Suggestions are a starting point, not legal advice. Always check requirements with your local authority, fire service, licensing body and insurer.
Why track compliance certificates?
Hotels, pubs, restaurants, B&Bs and holiday lets hold a dozen or more certificates, each with its own renewal date. A lapsed gas, electrical or fire certificate can invalidate insurance, trigger enforcement and delay a sale when a buyer's solicitor asks for the safety file. A single tracker with reminders keeps everything in date.
Common hospitality certificates and renewal periods
- Gas safety certificate: usually every 12 months.
- Electrical installation condition report (EICR): typically every 5 years for commercial premises, sooner for some.
- PAT testing: commonly every 1 to 2 years depending on equipment.
- Fire alarm, emergency lighting and extinguisher servicing: usually every 6 to 12 months.
- Fire risk assessment and Legionella risk assessment: review at least annually or after changes.
- Lift, hot tub, pool and kitchen extraction inspections, food hygiene rating, licences and insurance.
